First of all, he looks great, he sounds great and he feels great.
He opened the R&R Hall of Fame show last night after an impressive introduction by Tom Hanks.  Jerry said the introduction was almost longer than the song.  He did WLOSGO -- just him and the piano -- and will do GBOF tonight.
This article in today's Newsday said Jerry came out looking like the elder statesman of Rock that he has matured into becoming.
After the performance, Jerry, Phoebe, J.W. and Cecil headed back to the hotel where Jerry curled up watching a movie and Phoebe ordered dinner for him.
We had a long discussion about his plans in NY.  He did some interviews, but not anything for television.  Today he is scheduled for a publicity photo shoot and an interview with a reporter for Billboard.
He said he will be back in NY early next year for Letterman and B.B. King's if everything goes well with the album release.
He's looking forward to going back to Europe.  He knows his most avid fans live there (except for me, of course!).  He said he had a wonderful time in Brazil, though.
We discussed the new album.  He thinks some of the songs will be available through Amazon by Christmas, but the CD itself will be ready early next year.  I have no idea why it's worked out that way.  He and I agreed that the music industry lately is a far cry from what it was when we were younger.
Some of the songs.... We already know about Mean Old Man (which he intends to incorporate into his live shows), but there are a few other Kris Kristofferson songs included: Come Sundown, Here Comes That Rainbow Again and You Can Have Her.  (Not sure if that last one is KK or not).  I asked if he had re-recorded any of his older songs, because we had that question here.  Yes, one song has been included that he had out in the past.  We are supposedly going to be GLAD he did....  The balance of the songs on the CD are those you have never heard JLL do before.  They are keeping most of the titles a surprise.  I'm really looking forward to hearing them!  They were produced by Jim Keltner and Steve Bing, with Phoebe as Executive Producer.
On the home front, Topaz is doing well, although aging gracefully.  There is a new pup named "Blue," a Blue Heeler, which is a large dog, living at the ranch.  He belonged to Lee, who can't keep him now that he is living in an apartment.  http://www.blueheeler.com/  Interesting looking dog....
Remember that the R&R HoF show was recorded for a 4 hour TV special which will be shown Thanksgiving weekend.  I assume that it will also be available in DVD form, as the entire production is a fund-raiser for the R&R HoF itself.  Hope that Jerry's performances will be included in that recording.
Best,
Kay
